It’s always cool when local bands do interesting things to promote themselves – so if you find yourself on Nicollet Mall tomorrow between 11-1, look for some blonde mohawked girls. It will all make sense when you read the info from the press release below.

LOCAL MUSIC: PENNYROYAL KICKSTARTER KICK-OFF PARTY
Thursday July 18th – in support of local rockers, Pennyroyal – a group of blonde, mohawked girls will take to Nicollet Mall inviting others to a Kickstarter Kick-Off Party later that day at The Belmore. Money raised from the Kickstarter will fund the vinyl pressing for Pennyroyal’s new full-length album produced and engineered at Flowers Studio by the legendary Ed Ackerson.
The mohawked girls promoting the show will be along Nicollet Mall in Downtown Minneapolis, Thursday from 11am-1pm during the farmer’s market. They will sport a blonde mohawk like Angie (Pennyroyal’s lead singer) and wear pink t-shirts that read: “Not Angie,” encouraging potential consumers to find “the real Angie” later that day. The Kickstarter Kick-Off Party will be held at The Belmore on July 18th from 5:00-7:00pm. Pennyroyal will perform live from 5:30-6:30pm. The event includes free pizza and computer stations available for fans to donate to the Kickstarter right at the show.
In addition, Pennyroyal will live-broadcast the performance to two seperate Kick-Off parties in North Dakota. Minot’s only brewery, Souris River Brewing- and a yet undisclosed location in Bismarck will be hosting.
The full-length album “Baby I’m Against It” is set to release in late September/early October in vinyl. A limited number of fluorescent pink vinyls are being produced in addition to the standard black. Keep an eye out for the first single to be released from the album entitled “Record Machine.”
