Prichard opened the night up with their powerful drum driven sound. The trio of Dave Cottini, Neil Hoying, and Christine Garcia are out of Chicago and represent very well the unique Chi-town chord sound that bands like Shellac perfected. I love a female bass player and Garcia played with a stony demeanor. Hoying is a technical guitar player and Cottini is an intense, heavy banger, of whom it is hard to take your eyes off of.

Jumping across the pond, the sounds of Manchester, UK come to mind as Minneapolis’s Two Harbors takes the stage. A more pop and lyric focused band, Blur & Oasis meets Semisonic. Around since 2006, they have a guitar style that swoops and drones while the bass brings the energy level up. The four piece consisting of Chris Pavlich, Kris Johnson, Jeremy Bergo, and Shawn Grider have just released their album “The Natural Order of Things”, and have been supporting it intensely.

Little Man is the glue. Chris Perricelli and Dave Cottini had not only performed in The Ike Reilly Assassination together, the two were classmates as well. Lately, Two Harbors and Little Man have shared the bill of quite a few shows together. I have seen Little Man several times and can tell you they never disappoint. Pericelli is the consummate frontman, total rock star in poise and talent. His bandmates, Brian Herb on bass plays with a dramatic, flailing flair, and Sean Gilchrist drums with abandon. The glam influenced rock trio is powerful and tight, and the crowd loved every moment they played, insisting on an encore. Their latest release “Original Face” has been a critical success.

If the three play together again it would be a show well worth attending, you will experience three very different styles of rock, and get enjoyment out of each. I hope that Little Man brings more friends from out of town to play here in Minneapolis for us to check out.
